Miami Ink on TLC

The Learning Channel (TLC) has set up shop in Miami Beach to take viewers inside the world of tattoo artistry in Miami Ink.

"In the series, a motley crew of best friends open and run a custom tattoo parlor. The resident artists — Ami James, Chris Nunez, Chris Garver and Darren Brass — live and work together to promote the art of tattooing while running a new business."

In addition to spotlighting the artists at work, each tattoo in Miami Ink has a story to tell.

Many people get tattoos to signify some pivotal moment or event in their lives. The show will offer insight into each Miami Ink customer and the impetus behind his or her choice of artwork.

The show premieres on Tuesday, July 19, at 10pm on TLC.

The show is definitly a hit, no matter what the reviews say in comparasion to the other tattoo show on AMC. The guys not only are talented but they show the emotional attachments people have with their tattoos. Ami has a strong personality, but his passion is shown through his work. Chris Gaver is like the father of the guys, he is wise and his experience and knowledge is oftened seeked by the guys to learn more because there is always something new to learn. Darren is a big teddy bear, you just want to go and hug him, being tattooed by him will make you feel comfortable, Yoji is quickly learning and he is putting in his part in either helping or just being there. Keep up the good job yoji and I hope everything is well wit your wife and baby. Ami, chill out wit Yoji! lol last but not least chris. what can I say, on tv you attract people because of your friendlyness and warmth we see from you. I can see you passion of art through your eyes and I hope to see more of that. Well boys good luck, be safe and keep up the good work

Hey guys of miami ink. My friend told me about your show on tlc and i decided to watch it since i seem to like tattoos A LOT. anywys i live in Atlanta,Georgia im 17 and im Mexican. I got my tattoo about a month and two weeks ago (its a butterfly) i thought that it was going to be painful but it wasnt in fact i kinda enjoyed the pain and im thinking on getting the second one for my birthday in April so i thought that i could travel to Miami to get a tattoo made by Chris Nuñez(i think that he is a Cuban Papi Chulo, if i wasnt so young i would date him i mean not that i would mind dating him but i dont think he would go out with a 17 year old, if he would then call me) but anyways i really want him to do my tattoo maybe as a graduation present my parent will let me go to Miami and i can stop by the shop guys. well i gots to go now Love Ya'

I love the Miami Ink! Watch it every week late at night in my bed! You guys are so talented! Ami you are so hot! Would love to meet you. Ami I want you to fix my tat I have. Make it look good for me! I love you guys!

I am writing because I have a favor to ask. I live in Kentucky and I started watching your show with my brother about two months ago. I really enjoy the art all of you do and think each one of you are very talented. My favor, is to ask one of you to create me a special tattoo. My boyfriend and I had broke up in June so he could get his stuff together, and three weeks later he took his own life. As you can imagine it has been very hard, and I would like a tattoo that symbolizes his memory. I have though of a lot of things, but nothing seems to work because I want it to be small, and on my foot.I have seen all of your work and I really think one of you could help me. If one of you can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, hope to hear from you soon!

Someday I will go to Miami and have one of these brilliant artists fix a bad tattoo that a wanna-be inked on me. It looks like a 6 year old drew it, and I know one of these guys could turn it into a masterpiece.

Posted by: Lisa at October 3, 2005 11:27 PM

I watch the show EVERY Tuesday. The repeats as well. I think you guys are super artists. Can just anybody com ein to get a tattoo? Or is this strictly a TV deal? I have a friend that lives in Miami, a musician, Otto Von Schirach. He has toured with the likes of bands such as Skinny Puppy, so he's not just a schlep. We were talking about coming in, but he said that he can't it's only TV. So we're trying to figure this out. We'd both like some ink from you guys!!!

I love your show especially Ami. He is HOT!!! I'm talking sizzling. Ami take care of your back. I would if I was there! All the guys and Kat do excellent work. I must give Kat her props, she is off the chain!! Nunez that was so sweet of you to let your Mom tattoo you. Darren take care of your arm. Yoshi how's the baby? Chris keep holding it down. Keep up the good work. Always remember someone loves you in VA.

I would like to say WOW! and more.. I think it's great you all are showing what a professional tat should consist of... good artists, caring staff, and clean work space.... plus much more.
Cat is a wonder... soooo young
I have had a year's worth of apprenticeship but never received my technical skills.... I tattooed for over 9 months - started tattooing after my first month of apprenticeship... my teacher felt I was good enough to start but I never got enough info to claim I am a tatto artist.. I can tattoo but can't work out any problems with my machines... What, oh what can I do? Should I start my apprenticeship over again? will I have to?
P.S. I have mad respect for you all! Wish I could apprentice again but under Cat this time!
Goddess Bless you all! Good Luck in your business (even though you don't need it with all that talent in one place!)

Hello, I just wanted to say that the show and the artists are a explosive package. You get a combination of both the sensitivity side throughout the stories and lives of others and you come out with a #1 FABULOUS TATTOO!!! I admire you all for your hard work and dedication for making the shop work! You need to open up more throughtout the US!!! If I could go to your shop I would! I just never ever go to Florida! Now I wish I did sometime so I can have AMI or Kat or CHris do a tattoo in memory of my grandfather. But GOD BLESS YOU ALL AT THE SHOP AND YOUR FAMILIES!

I love the show and think that all of the guys are amazing artists. I am a big fan of Ami's and would love to be able to come to Miami to get my first tattoo! My 10 year old son has become very interested in drawing all of the tattoos on the show.
I bet Ami never thought he would have risen to "sex symbol" status! He is very sexy.

Neither my wife or I have tattoos, but we really enjoy your show. We are truly impressed with the detail to the artwork, and the relationship between the artist and the people who want to tell a story through their tattoos. GREAT job, your show is sooooooo much better than the guys in Vegas. Keep up the good work.

Miami Ink is the best. I don't miss a single episode. I love all the artists, with Ami James and Chris Garver being my favorites, I hope one day to get tattooed by them. Right now, I would REALLY like to be tattooed by Kat though. I have a portrait of my grandmother that I would like her to tattoo on me. Any information on where Kat is based on, would be awesome. Thank you so much and keep tattooing great art!

I also heard that Tommy Helm was going to be at the Miami Ink shop. His artwork is really amazing and he is a really down-to-earth guy. I remember when my ex was getting work done by him how friendly he treated the customers. Miami Ink is a really great show. It's pretty much the only reality type show that I will watch because it actually shows interesting stories and awesome art. It's not about drama crap. I just want to say that I really really dig Chris Garver's artwork.....and I think he's kinda cute..hehe....

I would have never given a thought to getting a tattoo, I generally think they look trashy on women but after watching the show these past months I am actually considering it! And of course, Chris Nunez is so stinkin cute, I can't pry myself away from the T.V. while its on! He can tattoo a piece of poop on me, I wouldn't care!

Posted by: Jessica C at September 15, 2005 05:32 PM

"Miami Ink" is an awesome show. Way better than that stupid "Inked" show. I LOVE the artwork and even all of the stories behind the tattoos.

Miami Ink is the real deal!!! I have one tattoo and always wanted another. I do know where I am heading to get my next. You guys are an amazing bunch and from looking at the show I have seen every one of you guys work and believe it or not I would like a tattoo by everyone of you. I know it will cost me but I am willing to save up and come down to see you guys. I think I am the most loyal fan in the world. I religiously make time to see you guys on TLC. The stories behind getting the tattoo for most individuals is amazing. The guy who came in with his daughter who fought cancer was really touching. Yogi I am not forgetting you, with perseverance you will be right up there with those other guys.

I happened to catch the first episode of "Miami Ink" as a happy accident. So thoroughly did I enjoy the interaction between the artists, themselves and with the clients it has now become one of the few shows that are on my "must watch" list.

I was hoping, when I watched "Inked" that it would be as great a show. Unfortunately, it is not. They showcase more of the office drama than any real talent with the needle. They may be in a so called "upscale" office but I find their clientele are people that I really cannot relate too. Too much arrogance for my taste all around.

Anyway, as a Floridian I'm encouraged that such a great show which is seemingly down to earth is being filmed here in the Sunshine state.

Keep up the great work guys! I'm looking forward to Season 2!

PS- Let the viewers know when it's coming to DVD! ;)

Much sucess to y'all.

I love the show and all the guys. Ihave two tatts of my own and am getting a third in the very near future. I was hoping to find a web address for the miami ink shop so that I could get a few opinions of the guys. They are all so extremely talented.

who cares about their attitudes? personally i like it! ami definatly reminds me of myself.. and i get a kick out of it... if u dont like it, dont watch! there are plenty more like me who wouldnt have it any other way!!

but i agree with a lot of you, they are definatly talented guys and i would definatly pee myself if i could get one of them to do a tattoo for me.. im on #6 right now.. and going in for the seventh in a few weeks... i have plans laid out for the next seven as well... who knows if i'll stop there or not =P but god knows their waiting list is probably long enough, i wouldnt get in there until i was 40... i'd wait tho

but definatly a good show.. i have friends that do tattoo's and i love to see somebody so passionate about their work, and have a good time doin it.

I am confuse... Is 1 tatoo show or 2? Last night i watch tatoo show on tv taking place in Las Vegas. Is not it Miami? Please explain...

I loved the show, my friends and I watched it last night and I actually liked it much more than the other show "inked"

Miami Ink's clientele were much more diverse and interesting than Inked's, which seems to be kind of a "dream come true" upscale tattoo business... the problem is that the flavor of the neighborhood tattoo shop can never be found on an upscale expensive hotel's lobby.... South Beach is the perfect place for a shop, in fact there's like three per block! WHERE ELSE will you find a guy whose a cross-dresser wanting a tattoo of himself in drag???? and may I say, SHE's GORGEOUS! and he's hot too. YEAH some of the guys are arrogant, but so are most tattoo artists... and at least they can back it up! not like that Dizzle kid, puhleeeez! the last thing I want is a wanna be who can't deliver.

Miami Ink ROCKS!

Just wanted you to see what comments were made by other professionals (sign artists) about the show after the premier run. http://www.letterhead.com/ubb/index.html

I don't think they really impressed a lot of people with their arrogance and demanding style. There are enough egotistical pricks on reality shows already; we don't need or want more.
