I went to Escopazzo for dinner with friends - to say the service was horrible is an understatement. Our table wasn’t ready for 30 minutes, we were given attitude by everyone including the manager. In fact, we were told to go to the bar to get drinks and they would be on the restaurant. When we got the bill they included $100 worth of drinks on our bill. We asked to have it removed and it was not. We have not and will never return. There are far better restaurants to give your patronage with much nicer people. The management seemed to be run by hoodlums.

I booked a two night stay at Hotel Ocean. I had a time finding the hotel because it was hiding behind an italian restaurant. I parked on ocean drive and had to find other parking since they were closing the street for new years eve. The hotel attendant at check out didnt give me much information on restaurants or anything nearby. She did tell me I could park my car with the valet or free public parking. Well it wasn’t free. It was actually cheaper thru the valet service. The room was nice, very clean european style. They gave us a complementary gift basket for new years along with champagne. The valet service sucked when leaving. The streets were still closed which was understandable, but we had to walk with all of our luggage around to the parking lot where they stored my car. I showed the valet I paid for parking and needed my car. He answered “thirty dollars”. Yes he tried to charge me thirty dollars without paying attention that I paid for everything and just needed my keys. After arguing that I paid for valet services and the hotel had my ticket, he just handed over my keys to avoid problems. I’d recommend a stay at the hotel, just be aware that the valet service is horrible and the front desk doesnt know whats going on.

Stayed there for New Years eve It was fantastic. The hotel staff went out of their way to make sure that we had a great time. The restaurant was one of the best I have had dinner at in Miami Beach. I come to south Florida almost once a month, and this is the first time I stayed at this hotel, well it certainly was a pleasent surprise. I highly recommend it. The rooms where clean and we had many ammenities. We messed up and left our do not disturb sign on till 5 PM. So the maids where gone and we told the front desk that we had left to see the parade and forgot to remove the sign. No problem the maid apparently lived only a few blocks away and came in at 8 PM only to make our room up while we where having dinner. This was completely above and beyond any call of duty. That is why I say the staff is the best I have seen, and the hotel was decorated very nice for the holidays. We will return to this hotel every time we come to Miami Beach again.

Sushi Siam: Great Thai food with beautiful people
While their are many good Thai restaurants in Miami, Sushi Siam not only serves great Thai food and Sushi but you get to sit on the Lincoln Road sidewalk and watch the beautiful, the famous, the whacko and the interesting people walk, skate, dance or bicycle by. Great food, good prices and free people watching are worth our 45 minute drive.

Clevelander " title="Clevelander ">Clevelander : Good and Bad
The rooms are out dated and the lack of carpet allowed sound to travel well from room to room and hall to room. I am pretty sure there was black mold exposed in the lugers of the in room air conditioner. The bars close at 5 AM so be prepared to hear everything until about 6 AM. The hotel staff was great and the party scene at the hotel was good but the cost of a beer 6 dollars and mix drinks at 9-12 was too much. If you stay here and do not plan to be out until 5 AM make sure you get a room on the non-pool side or you will not sleep. The location was great and the trip and stay over-all were good. Definitely geared to the younger “want to be” rich and famous crowd.

Cavalier Hotel: Worst Hotel I have Ever Stayed In
This hotel was the pits. We were there for two days and when we asked for a remote control for the TV, they said they only had one and our friends had just taken it. I then proceeded to ask for clean towels, due to the fact that NO ONE came to clean our rooms, and the lady at the front desk said that she had to go get some, because there were no more clean… What a mess. When we first got there, we even tried to explain that the rooms that we were seeing were not the rooms we saw pics of and the lady told us that we should view things before we purchase, basically that we should have asked to see the rooms before we put the money down. Worst time of our lives. The bathroom that we had wasnt even big enough for a person to turn around in. Insane!! We had two huge trash dumpsters right outside our window as well and construction going on from 7am to about 5pm. No one from the “lovely” staff bothered to bring this to our attention. Worst Mistake of our lives.

Emeril's: Overpriced mediocrity
We actually live a few miles from the place, so why not check it out. Well, first of all it may be just my taste, but I think the food is too loaded with spices and seasoning. The actual taste of meat is fading out of seasoning, marinades, spices I wrapped into.
Antelope ordered medium was actually almost all red and practically impossible to chew.
Soup was extremely spicy. Scallop appetizer was good, but not even close to the beauty I had on few other places on South Beach. Sides were actually nice but a little bit bold in taste.
The atmosphere of the restraint is natural colors, open space and kind of breeze created by overloaded air conditioners, which completely off the line with bold food overloaded with flavors. Service is fine, but nothing special at all.
Overall this restraint is fine, but nothing special. Trust me there are places on South Beach, that should be visited way before Emeril’s. We did not have wine or deserts and the bill was 125$ for two. In the past for this money I had quite a dining experience in few other places,
which I did not have at all there. That is why it’s overpriced mediocrity.

In the last 2 years I have had the pleasure of visiting South Beach 4 times and just booked my fifth trip for March 2006. I too stumbled across the Playwright Irish Pub accidentally and found it to be one of the best places to visit in South Beach. Every employee is friendly and the service is outstanding. We go there almost every night while on vacation either to start the night out or to make a night of it. The St. Patricks day party is great! We have had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world there which is a lot of fun. I would recommend the Playwright to people of all ages and can’t wait to visit again.

Baleen" title="Baleen">Baleen: Parties of 6 or more doesn’t work well
I have been to Baleen 4 times. I have lived in Miami 29 years. I keep giving it a try, a go, and have been successful twice, enjoying 2 out of 4 events. I am not critizing the food, that was very good, although one event the lamb arrived cold. The problem with the place is the service, and that they cannot cater to a wedding as well as the regular dining. The setting is very romantic; two people dining is a dream, parties of 6 or more doesn’t work as well. That is when I saw the problems occuring.

Tuscan Steak: Perfect Martinis, Wine, Steak and Dessert
When I made my reservation for four, I mentioned Miami Beach 411 (this website) and to my surprise was given a complimentary appetizer for the entire table. The food was awesome, the martinis were ice cold and perfect, and the service was outstanding. We wouldn’t let the busboys take away our plates until every tasty morsel of food was gone!!
I highly recommend Tuscan. Great food, great value and an all-around great experience. Thank you to Miami Beach 411 for your helpful website!

Penguin Hotel: I’m super picky, but I loved the Penguin
I’ve travelled all over the world and I have been spoiled with wonderful hotels, hence I’m super picky and hard to please. BUT the Penguin was fantastic. South Beach Hotel: honest Review of South Beach Hotel
I stayed at the South Beach Hotel for the Miami Winter Music Conference. The rooms are Extremely affordable and sunny. The staff is wonderful to say the least, we had a large party and they more than accomodating to us.The hotel is clean and wonderfully restored. The only downsides are that if you are going to 2nd and Collins, it is quite a hike in heels, but cab fare is not too expensive when traffic is good, when traffic is bad, rent a scooter or bike it. Also there are no comforters on the bed only sheets, but considering it’s Miami does it really matter? The rooms are a steal considering the price and with the friendly staff and beautiful garden, I doubt you will not enjoy your stay. Another perk of being so far down Collins is that the beach is one block away and not too packed with tourists so you can truly enjoy your beach time, and parking is also easy. I highly reccomend this place, I was going to stay here again this year but the prices went up from last year =(

Sterling Cruise: Very Enjoyable Sterling Cruise
Went on the cruise for the first time. It was very enjoyable, the buffet was what it said it would be. I was very impressed with the fact that they kept the buffet filled with a variety of deli foods. The entertainment was very good and there was something for everyone. I was a little disappointed that the slots were mostly quarters and very few nickels. We went for the day cruise and I felt it was worth the drive down and back. Thanks Sterling, you have a wonderful ship.

I have to agree with the other posts on this. It was awful! My husband and I took a trip to Miami for a weekend getaway. We reserved a room at this hotel on-line. After reading the reviews here, we were skeptical but thought what the heck, we’ll try it. What a mistake! When we arrived, we had to wait about 5 minutes before the lady at the front desk even came to help us. When we did finally get our key and up to our room , it was a dive! The rooms are very very small, stains on the carpet, ect. At this point, we just thought “well, ok, we arent going to be in here much anyway”.
But then, we went to leave our room and the door handle broke so the door wouldnt lock! Which meant anyone could just push on the door and get in. When we called the front desk to have this fixed, she informed us we were out of luck. She said “Our maintance man has gone home. There is nothing I can do about it. You can either deal with it or get another hotel”. She claimed she couldnt call the maintance man so no one could even look at it until the morning. It is definately not someplace where you would want to stay without a locked door. We checked out of the hotel and stayed at another the next street back.
My advice to you is, dont stay here! It is awful! Trust what the other’s have posted on this place. If you dont, I guarantee you will regret it.

Blue Door: Excellent food AND service
This is the best fine dining experience in South Beach! Not only is the food fantastic but the service really stands out. You hear a lot about pretentious service at many fine dining restaurants in south beach, but this is not the case at Blue Door. I had an early dinner (7pm) with my two year old daughter here and the wait staff was nothing but gracious. They brought toys for her to play with, extra food for her, and by the end of the night the waiter was even showing us pictures of his own children.

After reading the reviews, we went with an open mind and were pleasantly surprised by the service we recieved. Our server was called Alena and could not have been more attentive. Quinn's Restaurant: Ooverrated restaurant on Ocean Drive
We were guests at the hotel (still are as I write this) Reserved an outside table at 8pm on a Tuesday through the concierge -didn’t happen, ended up inside through the appetizers until a table opened up. Took 3 attempts to get a high chair for my son; yes, I know, perhaps a travesty in South Beach to actually enjoy your child enough to bring him along.
Food was pretentious, though well presented. My grouper’s inherent flavor somehow dominated its complexly-described sauce, and the potatoes were cold. Remember that overheated pistachios have the consistency of flooring tile.
The Bam Bam shrimp were quite tasty, though perhaps not fresh before preparation. GREAT presentation, again. Lobster bisque was good if unremarkable.
Service was confused. A “comped” pair of appetizers for the high chair/reservation fiasco arrived plainly on the bill. One was removed after challenge. Yippee. Not a big deal, but considering the original comp-promising waiter was well-tipped individually before the move to the outside, this was weak.
Dinner at Rendezvous a couple doors down the night before was better by several magnitudes, especially service. Quinn’s must be resting on its laurels.
Great hotel (Park Central), Casablanca is perfectly pleasant, but Quinn’s needs an obvious recharge.

This has to be the most terrible hotel experience I have ever had. First of all no one speaks English. The ladies working behind the desk were the rudest most unpleasant people I have had to deal with. They offered absolutely no help with anything. They never smiled one time. If they hate their job that much they need to find a new job. One of the elevators did not work. My Mother walks with a cane and could not come back down until we checked out the next day because we could not get an elevator. When we went down to check out the next day my sister and I had to carry our bags down three flights of stairs and make two trips. Then we had to go back up to help my Mother down. he rooms were dirty. The walls were dirty. The bed was like sleeping on a board with a blanket on it. The tv was fuzzy. NOT a good experience, to say the least.

We were greated by a friendly hostess. The atmosphere was outstanding. Ordering became simple when our server did it for us. He suggested a tasting menu! Wow what an experience.
