Casa Tua: Beware of hidden dress code at Casa Tua   4-Star rating

We hope the food is worth the pretense!  We never did have a chance to try the much anticipated meal as we were turned out because we lacked the proper attire.  We have made reservation and the person on the telephone failed to inform us that there is a dress code requirement.  Being from Boston where most people do not place an extreme value on being up to the latest style, we showed up in shorts (Bermudas not bikini) and open toe shoes (not flip flops) and were informed by a hostess that they do not allow shorts or flip flops. After I told the hostess that we were not told of this policy she proceeded to tell us in barely legible English that people should be able to figure it out and
called the manager.  A very polite manager gave us a once over and probably realized that we were not in any way famous or very important and confirmed the decision made by the hostess. By the way, my flip flops were the latest Prada crocodile wedges.

Casa Tua is located at 1700 James Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139 .
