51 Places to Find Work in Miami

January 03, 2008 By Gus in Miami: Local News  | 24 Comments

When it comes to moving to a new city, one of the biggest challenges can be finding a place to work. I know this because out of all the questions we’re asked in the Forum, (aside from where to go party?) how to find a job in Miami is probably the question were asked the most.

The fact is, there are tons of places to find work online. So, if you’re looking for hotel jobs, restaurant jobs, cruise line jobs, jobs with the city, or jobs with Miami’s largest employers, there is sure to be a site listing a job tailor made for you!

Miami job seekers, I give you the comprehensive list:

Job Seekers: Don’t Wait by the Phone (or Computer)

Don’t just apply online and wait by the phone. If you find a company, or a position you really want, job-seekers need to be aggressive in following up all job leads.  If you apply online for a position, consider following-up with a cover letter and resume sent to the hiring manager via regular mail. You will stand out over the other online applicants because few will also send a hard copy.

A meeting in person, or on the phone may be the best way to showcase your personality. If you are nervous, consider writing a short script about what you want to say.

As with trying to organize any list, if we’ve missed a place , please do send it in, or add it to the comments below.

Gus says:

Hi Lefteris,

Wish I had some good news to share, but finding a job in Miami is difficult, and finding a jog that will also give you visa papers is almost impossible. However, your language skills are sure to be desirable to the right employer. Here are a few links you might find helpful:

Good luck.

lefteris says:

Thanks for the reply Gus !!! you are absolutely right about that one ...
I have been researching through the net and basically the only way to come to miami is by applying for a masters degree.
With my belgian passport i can come for 90days as a tourist without a visa and could search for work but it would be hard to find a job and someone who would get you visa papers sorted out… I guess finding a masters degree is the only way…
peace
