Why do bloggers hate on Miami?

A day can not go by without finding another blogger hating on Miami:

South Beach exists to remind me of everything I do not value. It is superficial. It is the land of excessive consumption. I witness a volatile mix of hormones and drugs there. There is no body hair in South Beach. I swear even the designer dogs are waxed. Every man, woman and child has at least one tattoo. And all the men look as if the first thing they did after leaving the birth canal was to go to the gym. The sun, however, is great.

And so I do my Dietrich thing in South Beach. With no car I walk a lot, at least five or six hours a day. I eat better and less. I swim and tan. I read. I meditate. I floss my teeth. I take care of myself. It is a retreat, a renewal, a time to reflect and reconsider who I am and what I want to do with the time that remains on earth.

It sounds like this blogger doesn’t really hate Miami. They just have the same love/hate relationship that we all do.
