TripAdvisor Says Miami Tour Company Is The #3 Best Attraction

June 24, 2009 By Gus in Miami: Travel NewsMiami: Things to Do  | 15 Comments

I am thrilled to announce, TripAdvisor’s Popularity Index has ranked Miami Tour Company #3 of 119 attractions in Miami. Currently, Vizcaya is first, Thriller boat tour is second, and our tour company is in third place. See the results.

From TripAdvisor:

The TripAdvisor Popularity Index incorporates Traveler Ratings, guidebook entries, newspaper articles and other web content to determine traveler satisfaction. Emphasis is placed on the most recent information. They calculate the Popularity Index using an algorithm that takes into account not only individual Traveler Ratings, but also opinions from other content sources on the web (such as guidebooks).

Some of you might ask, why is a tour company listed as an attraction? Well, I can assure you, our narrated tour around Miami and Miami Beach is very special. I don’t claim that we’re better than Disneyland, but that is what we aim for.

If you are looking for things to do on your next vacation, I strongly recommend visiting TripAdvisor’s website. The site is packed with over 20 million reviews about hotels, attractions, and everything that’s important for planning a trip.

Thank you to our customers for writing a review.

We are continuing to refine our tours, making them better based on your feedback.

Congrats Gus and Michelle for having the top tour company in Miami, and being the third attraction. I loved the City Tour and can’t wait to go on another..maybe the snorkeling trip. I guess I could stop being a scardy cat and do the Everglades..

I think we should also get voted #1 Miami website!

Tripadvisor allows the posting of reviews without supportive evidence (Wikipedia), and can be manipulated by anyone (other than the customers) looking for good ratings and free advertising for their own benefit. I can’t understand why a tour company that gets involved with “Tourist Traps” (such as Bayside and other places where the customer gets charged $3.00 for a bottle of water: like those Everglades boat-ride joints) is top rated?
Just like I said before:  Tripadvisor can be a double-edge sword

I will start writting my comments in other places where there is no censorship.

Gus says:

OK, paco poco, I re-instated your comments. Let’s discuss your beef.

But before we do, let’s make it clear, you are Orlando J. Chils-diaz.  You worked as a bus driver for our company for a few weeks in March, but you quit, unexpectedly.

Allow me to answer your question. You said…

Why you are threatening us?

Are you angry at me for asking you to wait a few weeks before giving our customers that book you were writing about Miami Beach? I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. I wanted you to focus on driving, first.

To answer your question, the reason I think we are top rated is, we treat our passengers with dignity and we truly care about showing people a good time. I am proud to say, our customers are happy 99% of the time, and when we make a mistake, we do whatever is necessary to make it right.

Michelle and I have both left you messages, but you have not returned our calls.

So, I guess we’ll talk to you here.

I will go and re-instate your other comments, now.

Name says:

No threatening here, just following the game you started.  And what game you ask?  Well, all those quasi-offensive remarks from you to Orlando:  “Orlando: You look like a chicken without a head”, “Orlando:  You lack class, finesse and refinement”, “Orlando: Do not use the horn”, “Orlando: (Vociferating over the phone) why did you..?”;  and the time you told some customers: “It is so hard to find good help these days” in Orlando’s presence (as if he was useless and unworthy of the salary rate you advertised), and many more ugly remarks that frankly do not fit him.  He is competent, cultivated, moderated, experienced, and has no disabling personality traits that may affect his endeavors and quality of life.  Your rights end where his commence.
And since your game is all about perception without scrutiny and without fear of repercussions, I call it the way I see you…
and paco poco=Orlando? how do you know this is not his wife? or his son? or his next door neighbor Judge Mr. Morris using this computer? or his jewish lawyer with 3 names?
...and Tripadvisor has no supporting evidence, and can be easily manipulated by anyone looking for free promotion. Anyone, even yourself.

Gus says:

Orlando Chils Diaz,

How can we have a discussion about your beef with me if you are going to distort the truth?

I never said you lack class and finesse. I said, you need to drive the bus with finesse. Your bus driving skills, with passengers on board needed work, that’s all. It’s not like you were a horrible driver, but you needed some improvement. Since you have an artistic background, I thought using the word, finesse, to describe driving was something you could relate to.

As far as the “chicken with his head cut off” remark, I think we both came up with that one. The comment was made by you and me the day you shouted out loud on the bus, when you saw a dog running across the road? I won’t lie, I was disturbed that you would alarm the passengers like that, while driving. We discussed the incident, later that day, and you agreed, it was a bonehead thing to do. You said, “I was like a chicken with no head”, and I told you the correct saying was, “a chicken with his head cut off”.

Regarding your horn usage, I did say, do not use the horn, because the way you were using it reminded me of a taxi driver.

I don’t understand why you were offended by me saying “It is so hard to find good help these days”? My remark had no reflection on you. After all, you were already part of the team.

And since your game is all about perception without scrutiny and without fear of repercussions, I call it the way I see you…

No, my game is about creating a remarkable tour and providing our customers with awesome service.  My game is also about having happy employees who are proud of their jobs and can live comfortably and pay their bills.

We’re just trying to do our best and get by day-to-day.

I’m not perfect. Running a company is new to me, and no doubt, I’ve made mistakes and have more to learn. Obviously, my style rubbed you the wrong way, and I am sorry about that.

Sincerely,

Gus Moore

Paco poco, or NAME says:

Orlando a liar?  LOL…  Maybe if you put your ego aside for just a moment and stop being proactive this game would be over soon, you have said “I’m sorry” many times already.
Two things I know about Orlando:
1)  He is a man of overflowing moral virtues.
2)  He wouldn’t walk away from the dream job except for: maybe if his dignity is at an emminent danger.
I know Orlando for a long, long time

Posted on 04/18/2010 at 4:16 PM

R says:

Dude:  I dont know Orlando, pico poco, or whatever name… but I know you real good.  Why don’t you talk about what you and your dad did to Rickey?

Posted on 04/18/2010 at 4:22 PM

Gus says:

R, what my dad and I did to Rickey? Well, my dad and Rickey sometimes argued about operational issues, and I did my best to keep the peace between them.

One thing I’ve learned is, it’s vital that I spend more time on the tour, helping the drivers.

I regret not spending more time working with my dad and Rickey, but I have taken on more responsibility and am learning how to be a better leader, everyday.

Orlando was the first driver that I helped train.
