P.F. Chang’s is open in Mary Brickell Village

I write this in conflict. I feel a need to let everyone know that P.F. Chang’s is now open in Mary Brickell Village, but I really don’t want anyone to know. About 5 years ago Gus and I started frequenting the P.F. Chang’s in Aventura. I grew very fond of the restaurant and started dining there once a week. However, the popularity caught on and now it’s always a madhouse, day or night, there’s always a wait. I got sick of waiting so we don’t go there very often anymore.

I have been anticipating the opening of the restaurant in Brickell. Two weeks ago, after a drive to Aventura and a 30 minute wait, I noticed they were advertising the opening of the new restaurant. I was going to tell everyone that night that the restaurant was open but I thought I’d keep it my little secret.

All week I have been craving their Pin Noodle Soup and Kung Pao Chicken so I decided to order take-out from the new Brickell location. When I got there, I noticed Brickell removed all the meters and installed the new meter machines on the sidewalks. Parking is now $1.25 an hour, more than South Beach. I’m kind of surprised at that but, whatever.

The restaurant is really beautiful and set up with the bar in the middle, and tables around the windows and the kitchen. The big horse that’s outside P.F. Chang’s in Aventura is inside this restaurant. I was greeted by a friendly hostess that took me to the bar where they have made a special take out area. The bar has really unique red lights, very metroplitan.

Now on to the food.  The soup wasn’t as tangy and flavorful as I’m used to but it was still good; the meatballs were soft and the broth was spicy. The Kung Pao Chicken was awesome, definitely one of the best I’ve had. I am looking forward to going back soon with Gus. For my own selfish reasons, I hope it takes a while for this restaurant to gain in popularity. Maybe by the time it does, they’ll build another one.
