Officer Shaquille O’Neal

Shaquille O’Neal was sworn in as a reserve police officer Thursday in a private ceremony. Shaq skipped the department’s public event earlier in the day to avoid the media attention, opting instead for a quiet, no-frills ceremony.

Shaq trained 1,200 hours with the Miami Beach Police Department and attended the Police Accademy in Los Angeles.

His salary—$1 a year.
