Miami Beach Community Survey Is Using Our Logo

June 11, 2006 By Gus in Miami: Local NewsMiscellaneous  | 9 Comments

The City of Miami Beach must really like our logo because they’re using it as their logo on a Community Satisfaction Survey.

They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, but they forgot to credit MiamiBeach411 for the art.

Our logo is hand-drawn and took over 40 hours to create.

I see our logo on the Executive Summary PDF too:

is the City of Miami Beach part of Miami411.com?

Gus says:

Thanks for the comments! I don’t see them very often. It feels good.

daddy/cool, no MiamiBeach411 is not affiliated with the City, but I was hired by them in 2003 to develope the Visitors section of their website: miamibeachfl.gov.

The City promised me a full-time job, but after I had done all the work they reneged on their offer.

At the time, I felt used and disappointed, but looking back on it now, not getting that job was the best thing that could have happened to me.

So, have you heard from them, or contacted them to make sure they are aware? You should definitely receive credit, compensation, or something!

2 Parts to this;

1. Ask for compensation/payment for the illegal use of the logo.

2. Ask for a full apology to be issued with also a link to the website or arrange some other deal to get free advertising and/or some concession whatever that may be.

A company I worked for employed a well respected free-lance graphics company to design some widely used slips in their shops and unfortunately for the company I worked for the free-lance company stole a competitors design and sold it to us. We then printed and used the copied slips and were promptly sued by our competitors and given the certainty of losing we settled out of court for several million.
