A View Behind Marlins’ Home Plate: Blogger-style

If it wasn’t for Rick’s blog post about last night’s Marlins game at Dolphin Stadium, I probably would have not gone to see a baseball game this year.

With a nice breeze and very comfortable temperatures, it was a perfect night to take in a baseball game. There were a few canines that were brought to the stadium in response to the Bark in the Park promotion, but not as many as I had hoped. I didn’t catch what the official attendance figure was but I’m thinking that somewhere in the neighborhood of 20,000 (minus the dogs)

Behind home plate about 16 rows up are some of the greatest seats in the house, especially if you like to watch the pitching and catch foul balls, although you’ll have to look though the protective netting.

This is how I like my sports reporting - short ‘n sweet.

During the game, Rick got to see Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, filming a few scenes for their upcoming movie “Marley & Me.”

I forgot to mention that midway through the game, it looked like a couple were allowed into the outfield to play with their dog. The audience cheered and I thought it was just part of the Bark in the Park promotion. Turns out, they were part of a scene that was being filmed for Marley and Me. Apparently, Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson were the people chasing the dog. Of course, I didn’t get any pictures of that.

Who plans to see the Marlins play, this season?

Home games continue through September 21st.

Tonight is University of Miami Family Night, with a post-game concert following a fireworks show, and tomorrow is Mother’s Appreciation Day at Dolphin Stadium.

Thanks for the mention, Gus! I’m all for doing a game as a group.
