ABOVE: Miami Beach City Commissioner, Jonah Wolfson, was elected Novemeber 6, 2007.

Congratulations to Jonah Wolfson, Miami Beach’s new Commissioner.

Yesterday, Miami Beach voters went to the polls and elected Jonah Wolfson over Luis Salom to the Group 4 Seat of the Miami Beach Commission. Jonah garnered 55.29% of the vote.  At 32 years of age, Johan was the youngest candidate in the election. He received endorsements from Senator Bob Graham, Miami Herald, SunPost, Miami Vision Blogorama, Teamsters Union, Service Employees Union, Communications Union, and Firefighters Union Local 1403.

A Miami native, Jonah was born at Doctor’s Hospital in Coral Gables, and went on to study at Gulliver Prep School and then at Boston College, where he earned a B.A. in English. Following his studies in Boston, he continued his education, graduating from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

As a new City Commissioner, Jonah has promised to…

  • Maintain and enhance public safety and police protection.

I like what Jonah stands for.

I’ve emailed him with questions about the need for a skateboard park in Miami Beach and how he plans to address nightclub safety, but have yet to receive a response. Jonah’s probably sleeping in today. Yesterday must have been an emotional day for him.
