ABOVE: The Muscle Beach Party at 12th Street in Miami Beach
Did you miss the White Party this year? Dan Renzi was there. You remember, Dan Renzi, he was a cast member from MTV. Dan is also an arts and entertainment writer for New Times, and blogs on his own site, How was your day, Dan?
Thankfully for us, Dan scored a press pass for this year’s White Party and does an excellent job giving us a backstage play-by-play:
“I’m here at Nikki Beach for “Cirque Blanc,” a party for women who love women and who love to dance with women. Of course, first we all have to get in to the party, but the line is so long, so incredibly slow, I have been here inching forward for over an hour. Did I mention it’s raining? Yes, here we are, me and a line of soggy lesbians stretching as far as the eye can see. But no matter, the rain isn’t killing their spirits, everyone looks nice with their big smiles on their faces.
Fun fact about this party: you know how clubs park really fancy cars in VIP parking by the front door? Usually at Nikki Beach you’ll see Ferraris, Lamborghinis, that kind of thing. Tonight, there is a Nissan Murano and some kind of minivan, right in front.”

Dan doesn’t stop at Nikki Beach—he spends the rest of the weekend doing what any good investigative journalist does while working on assignment in Miami—hobnobbing with local politicians, partying at the Vizcaya Mansion with Cyndi Lauper, and how do we say, ummm… burning the midnight oil, interviewing a dentist from Boston who’s down here on vacation.
Go get ‘em, Dan.
If you’d like to follow Dan’s adventures, you can bookmark his blog, or subscribe to his RSS feed—I recommend you do! Why? Because Dan Renzi is a South Beach local.
