Last week, Iggy Pop and The Stooges held a free concert on the beach to kick off Art Basel. The show was f***ing incredible! From the moment the band walked on stage, Iggy and his 4 band mates had the crowd in a frenzy. The concert lasted over an hour. For the entire show, Iggy was relentless, going peddle to the metal, never letting up one bit.
A writer at MiamiNights.com tried to be funny by dissing the band before the show, saying:
“On Wednesday, December 5 with the relic punk rockers Iggy and The Stooges, which surprisingly includes four out of the five original band members, though I’m pretty sure bassist Dave Alexander would be there if he hadn’t died back in ‘75. No offense to fans of the Stooges out there, but I was hoping for someone a bit more—how do I say this?—relevant.”
After watching the video, was MiamiNights description accurate?
Do the words, “relic” and “relevant” convey Iggy’s showmanship?
What words would you use to describe The Stooges performance?
This is a punk rock post. If you need to use swear words to convey how the music makes you feel, by all means, express yourself.
UPDATE: Watch the full concert here!
