Local Bloggers Kick Ass

With our upcoming wedding, I have not spent much time surfing the blogosphere.  It’s hard to read blogs when you’ve got 40 guests flying in for the big day.

But this morning, I woke up early and jumped over to Bloglines to see what I had been missing. Wow! I am totally blown away by how good our local blogs are getting. And believe me, I only say “totally blown away” when I am “totally blown away”.

Here are just a few stories written by some local Miami bloggers that you should see:

This week, Miamity playfuly mentioned a rap song that was recored by the Hurricanes football team a few years ago. The post caused somewhat of a major uproar. The writer was threatened with an ass kicking and expulsion from school. He was forced to remove the link, but the controversy got national coverage on ESPN. (Way to go, Kyle!)

Gridskipper sees Rokbar similarities in South Beach’s newest club, Snatch. (Good eye, Nick!)

Both CriticalMiami and Carl Hiaasen are asking us to hold the line on urban development in the Florida Everglades. I’m thinking about getting off my ass and going to a meeting. (Hooray, it’s the A-Listers to the resuce!)

Although she is married a Girl from Miami is feeling unloved. The good news is: she met a new man that makes her feel special. She contemplates cheating on her husband, but chooses to end the friendship instead. (ileana, we are touched by your candor.)

The New World Symphony is taking note (insert pun here). They are encouraging their musicians to find new ways to engage with audience members. They endorse Matt’s blog, and are even kicking around the idea to film a reality show.  (Three cheers for the bassist!)

Believe me, the top-notch writing and professionalism of all of these local blogs just shows how quickly news and media are changing.

I use Bloglines to follow many different news sites, but I will be dumping most of the feeds because our local coverage is so good.
