I’m Bored, What’s There To Do? (Something for Everyone)

The Summer Shorts Festival is already underway at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts but Undershorts and Shorts 4 Kids begin this week. Also for the kids, and also at the Arsht Center, is Go, Diego, Go live on stage this weekend.

Comedian Eddie Izzard will be live at the Fillmore Miami Beach for two nights. The Cure is in concert at the BankAtlantic Center Friday night and the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus is in concert at the Colony Theater all weekend long. There will also be a free Cuban fusion concert at North Shore Open Space Park Sunday.

Miami Beach Cinematheque is showing Paranoid Park. Opening night will include a webcast with the director Gus Van Sant.

Tired of looking at the trash on the beach? There’s a Litter Clean-up Competition on Saturday.

Other events going on include a Miami FC soccer game against the Carolina Railhawks; an Edible Landscaping presentation at the Botanical Garden; a night of food, music and open mic poetry at Amrosia Ambiance; and a Singer/Songwriter concert presented by Arts at St Johns.

Parties this weekend include DJ Ravi Drums at mokai Friday night; Mansion’s Freaky Friday the 13th, an S&M-inspired party; a special electro-inspired party with Lazaro Casanova, featuring glow in the dark dancers, electric decor and so much more, on Saturday also at Mansion; and MMA superstar Thiago “Pitbull” Alves will host the Saturday party at Prive.
