I’m Bored, What’s There To Do? (Elmo vs Fight Club)

Ok, there’s more going on this weekend than High School Musical on Ice (ending Thursday - 9/20 - at BankAtlantic Center and running Saturday and Sunday at AA Arena) and Sesame Street’s Elmo Makes Music! at the Kravis Center Thursday through Sunday (9/23). You must have kids to appreciate the dilemma.

For the rest of you, how about a trip to the opposite end of the entertainment spectrum by attending the International Fight League World Championship at Hard Rock Live Thursday?

If you’d like to stop by Studio A, rock band Escape the Fate will be headlining Friday night (9/21), just a week into their national tour. You can also catch Bless the Fall, Lovehatehero, and Before Their Eyes all the same night. Saturday (9/22) will be a little less hardcore with bands Big Bang Radio, Like the TV Show, and And Then There Was You.

Also on Saturday, for you country fans, Brad Paisley, Rodney Atkins, and Taylor Swift are at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre. You cultured people might prefer the Spanish Harlem Orchestra at the Gusman Center (or Elmo???). And all you partiers might want to be at Club Space with DJ Sander Van Doorn.

A few other things to mention this week are a new exhibit, John Heartfield & German Photomontage, opens at the Wolfsonian Thursday (9/20) and will be on display through February;
STOMP begins at the Carnival Center next Tuesday (9/25) and runs through the week (I saw this show a few years ago and highly recommend it); and Santo’s Tuesday night party is now “Super Rock Tuesdays” with live rock music played by the Santo house band.

There are plenty of weekly parties and happy hours. Visit the Event Calendar to check them out. If your event is missing from the Calendar, send it to me!
