GMCVB - Remove The Porn From Your Website

Is anyone moderating the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s website?

Obviously, no.*

*Based on the pornography that’s being hosted at 411.miamiandbeaches.com.

This isn’t just an oversight. Hundreds of images, much more graphic than the one above, have been on their website for over two weeks.

It is shameful that the organization responsible for promoting Miami is too incompetent to control what is being posted on their website. It makes you wonder, how is the GMCVB spending the taxpayers money?

Budget: $23 million

Staff: 70 Full Time

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is a private, not-for-profit sales and marketing organization. It is a private-public partnership with more than one thousand private business members and four local governments: Miami-Dade, City of Miami Beach, City of Miami and the Village of Bal Harbour.

70 full-time employees and you can’t control this garbage?

The City of Miami Beach gives you $5,000,000 dollars a year to promote our city, and this is how you do it?

How can we trust you to do your job, when you can’t even manage your website?

What else are you letting slip through the cracks?

Boycott The GMCVB

Until they get a system in place to ensure this never happens again, I am calling for an industry-wide boycott of their services.

I’m asking journalists and bloggers to stop covering their events, I’m asking advertisers to not use their services, I’m asking the City to terminate the contract, and finally, I’m asking GMCVB to remove the offensive content and issue a formal apology.

Wow. Just Wow. What it looks like is that is an old unused page set. But it is still up and could end up being found in some web searches. I could not find any links to that in their regular site. But, they definitely need to take it down. I DMed them on Twitter. Gonna see what else I can do.

James, the images can be easily found on their regular website. All anyone needs to do is, go to gmcvb.com > visitors > online community > forums

Thanks, Maria. Looks like the GMCVB finally got around to taking the site offline. Unfortunately, it took them almost 24 hours to get the message. We’ll see if they apologize for the mistake.
