Cooking Classes at Williams SonomaSouth Beach offers so many things for its locals that we are spoiled for choice. With daily happy hours, sunrise and sunset beach yoga and our bars open till 5am, there is never an hour of the day we don’t have something to do. Sundays are usually a day to catch up on our sleep, hang out with friends or relax by the pool. But this week I wanted to try something new, and visited Williams Sonoma on Lincoln Road for a complimentary cooking class. Something different to do on Lincoln Road Williams Sonoma is a dream to visit for anyone interested in food. The bright store has colorful displays which entice you in to look around their merchandise, such as utensils, ingredients or just fun things to buy like a beer making kit for $40. There is always something delicious cooking on the stove, with smells wafting through the store to whet your appetite. The store has daily demonstrations and twice a week they offer cooking classes from the Williams Sonoma experts. The Wednesday night class has a fee of $25 and includes a 2 hour session complete with a cooking demonstration, generous samples of the featured dishes, a sit down meal at the end of the class and printed recipes to take home. Sunday morning classes are a fun complimentary demonstration to learn the art of cooking. Each class is dedicated to a specific topic, from the best way to work with specific ingredients to creative ideas for seasonal meals. I went along one Sunday to discover some new recipes in my first class. Sunday cooking classes are a fun alternative to Brunch The hour long class follows a free handout full of tips, information and recipes on a different subject each week. July’s monthly activities included learning how to make ice cream from scratch and farmer’s market meals. The class I chose was deconstructing salads. Tasty recipes were demonstrated including peach, arugula and goats cheese, a green herb salad with champagne vinaigrette and a pepper, tomato and olive chopped salad, complete with herbs and a homemade vinaigrette. We watched the chefs demonstrate how to make the salads and learned to make the various dressings from scratch. The class was full of information such as tips for tastier dressings and how to choose the best ingredients. Everyone attending the class was able to sample the different salads, and it made for a delicious alternative to Sunday Brunch. A great way to meet other Locals The class demonstrations are offered weekly at Williams Sonoma along with special events and cookbook classes. The store can be found on the corner of Lenox Ave and class size is limited so make sure you book your place in advance. If cooking is your thing, and you want to try something new, fun and different in Miami Beach, come try a class and meet some other food loving locals. Williams Sonoma

I love that they did salads for a cooking demo. Quick and easy and great for the hot weather! I’ll definitely go if I move back..and the Wed night class sounds like a lot of fun. A great time in SoBe for $25 is hard to find, good work on discovering this!
