Woman Pushing 30 Seeks 30 Men to Date

July 25, 2010 By Carlos Miller in Miami: Local News  | 6 Comments

It’s been a week since Claudia announced she is looking for 30 men to date, one for almost every night in August, and so far, things look promising.

She’s already received more date proposals than she has had in a year.

“I think I’ve received about seven or ten requests so far,” she said Sunday night.

“I haven’t really sat down and gone through my emails. I plan to do that this week and start setting up the dates.”

But now with less than a week to go before August kicks off, the question is, will she persuade another 20 guys to ask her out?

In this day and age of social media, where all a woman has to do is go on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube to seek out men, you would think it wouldn’t’ be hard for a 29-year-old woman who looks sexy in a Santa suit to find a date.

Especially in South Florida, where Miami was ranked the second best city for singles to live in.

Yet the offers haven’t exactly been pouring in.

However, considering she’s only been on three dates since moving to Ft. Lauderdale from New York a year ago, she’s not complaining.

“I always thought dating in New York would be difficult,” she said. “But then I moved here.”

Granted, she mostly focused on making friends over the past year, in which she’s been successful.

But as she approaches the big three-oh, she realizes there is something missing.

“I just miss being in a relationship,” she said. “Most of the guys I meet down here, I’m afraid they only want me for a one-night stand.”

So Claudia, who works in TV production, uploaded the above video of herself on Youtube. Then she launched a website called See Claudia Date. And then she got on Twitter and Facebook and made her announcement.

This is how she described her goal on Facebook:

Claudia is single and turning 30. She moved to South Florida from New York City one year ago, although she is a Texas girl at heart (born and raised).

After constantly being asked by friends and family via phone and e-mail if she seeing anyone (and giving them the same answer), she has decided upon the ultimate social experiment and doing something about it. Maybe.

She will attempt to go on 30 dates in 30 days all while turning 30. And she is leaving it to YOU (and the power of the internet)

Claudia, whose background is Mexican, may be a Texan at heart but has spent most of her adult life in New York City. She moved to South Florida for a job.

She describes herself as “very liberal” and plays flag football on a co-ed team.

She also enjoys dining, traveling, movies, concerts, outdoor activities and hanging out with her friends, to include the obligatory dating profile cliché.

“I’m very low-key when I go out with my friends,” she said. “Sometimes we go to dinner or just have drinks at a bar.”

When asked to describe her type, she simply says she is looking for someone she can “click with.”

She says she won’t rule out older men but won’t date anybody pushing 50.

“I don’t want to date anybody old enough to be my father,” she said.

And for the cynics who say she is only doing this to get 30 free meals.

“I would offer to pay half,” she said.

But the cynic in me says that would automatically rule you out.

I’m very disappointed with the single men in Fort Lauderdale. Maybe all the good ones moved out of Florida. That’s got to be the reason. You might want to ask out a Nerd or two. You have to ask them because they don’t know how. They should be able to see you. If they don’t, they’ve been reading too much and can’t see beyond the page. Most Nerds think they’re invisible to attractive woman so you have to talk to them. If you speak to one, don’t be surprised if they experience a momentary loss of bladder control; extreme fear brings that on. I had that experience once…never mind, that story’s too long. Telling it sounds like something a Nerd would do. Anyhow, the good part about dating a Nerd is the contribution you will make to mankind (there’s a lot of Nerds) and the enlightening conversations you’ll have. If anything, think of the vocabulary lesson you get. Watch Big Bang Theory for a sample. Anyhow, good luck in your quest. You sound like a woman any man would be lucky to spend time with. I know, I ended that sentence with a preposition, it’s a Nerd thing. I wonder if I should have left my number…

Very interesting. Well, I wish you all the best. Your social experiment is quite intriguing and I won’t be surprised if someone from Hollywood picks it up and turns it into a box office hit…

Does she have children. Cause that is pretty much a big killer. No decent Single guy is gonna want to date a single mom and all the associated baggage.

Claudia says:

@John: Nope, no kids. But wow, tells me a bit about you.
