Event Details:

There’s something new brewing on the boulevard…an event where dames in Dirndls, beer aficionados and the average Joe can all join together in a “haus” of German Tradition. Where jugs of frothy libations are set to flow like a jodeler’s melody and delicacies will consist of Rostbratwürstl and Wiener Schnitzle. It is the 1st Annual Las Olas Oktoberfest!

Presented by The Riverside Hotel and Fritz & Franz Bierhaus, the three day beer, food and music festival will take place on the hotel’s Lawn, overlooking Las Olas Boulevard, Friday, September 28 through Sunday, September 30 (similar to the original Munich Oktoberfest which also starts in late September). Free to attend, the celebration will kick off at noon on Friday with a customary keg tapping ceremony, and will be open from 11am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 12pm to 10pm on Sunday.

A decorated, 4,000-square-foot beer tent will hop to the sounds of Bavarian Entertainment Band “Nachtschicht,” while guests within will enjoy hops of another kind—unlimited amounts of ice cold Bitburger Pilsener, Köstritzer Oktoberfest Bier and Benediktiner Weisbier. Austrian and German Wine is also on the menu, along with traditional Austrian/Bavarian food—a coproduction of executive chef’s Toby Joseph from Riverside Hotel and Edi Lerperger of Fritz & Franz Bierhaus. Wiesenhendl (roast chicken), Wurstteller (sausage sampler), Nürnberger Rostbratwürstl (authentic Nürnberger brats), Wiener schnitzel, Potato salad, Giant Bier Pretzl, Apfelstrudel, and German Chocolate cake are just a few of the culinary delights that will be available at the event’s self-serving food court.

Adding to the festivities will be a mix of games and competitions—and not the typical fraternity-style drinking activities of beer pong and flip cup. Revelers will be dared to measure their heritage via Bratwurst-eating, beer stein holding and Jodel contests for the chance to win complimentary beer, t-shirts, hats and more. To add more authenticity to the 1st annual Las Olas Oktoberfest, original 32oz beer mugs called ISAR KRUG or MASS—specially brought over from Europe—will be available to purchase.

Attendees will also have the chance to win two round-trip tickets from Miami to Munich through a raffle benefiting PACE Center for Girls Broward. Raffle tickets will be sold at $5 each and all proceeds will be directly donated to PACE, a Florida-based, nationally recognized nonprofit prevention/intervention program providing year round counseling, academic, life skills and college/career preparation services for adolescent at-risk girls.

For those who want to keep the party going, The Riverside Hotel will be offering a special Oktoberfest rate for the weekend of $89 per night, a savings of 40%. For reservations visit www.riversidehotel.com/accommodations/las-olas-oktoberfest/ or call 800-325-3280 and mention the Las Olas Oktoberfest.

Admission to the event is free all weekend long. Beer servings are available in two sizes, 14oz for $5 or 32oz. The original 32oz ISAR KRUG mugs will be available to purchase for $30 ($16 for the mug and $14 for the beer) and each refill will cost $14. Authentic German culinary selections will range from $3 to $15. Additionally, corporate or party tables can be reserved by calling 305-776-4048. Self parking is available in attended lots and The Riverside Hotel garage for a $5 flat rate. Valet parking is also available at The Riverside Hotel.
