Event Details:
From December 5 - December 8, 2013, Miami Beach will host the 12th edition of Art Basel, the most prestigious art show in the Americas. More than 200 modern and contemporary art galleries throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa will take part, showcasing modern and contemporary works by more than 4,000 artists.
Art Nova
The Art Nova sector is a platform where emerging and established galleries present new or recent work by one, two or three artists at Art Basel Miami Beach. Limited to work made in the last three years, Art Nova provides visitors with an opportunity to see many pieces fresh from studios and explore the newest artistic practices.
Art Kabinett
In Art Kabinett, 25 galleries selected for the Art Galleries sector will present curated exhibitions in a separately delineated space within their booth. The curatorial concepts for Art Kabinett are diverse, including thematic group exhibitions, art-historical showcases and solo shows for rising stars.
Art Positions
Art Positions creates a platform for a single major project from one artist, allowing curators, critics and collectors to discover ambitious new talents at Art Basel Miami Beach. 16 galleries will feature works this year.
Art Edition
Leading publishers of editioned works, prints, and multiples exhibit the results of their collaboration with renowned artists.
Art Magazines
Art publications from around the world display their magazines in single-magazine stands or the collective booth. Editors and publishers are often present at the show and many magazines contribute presentations to the Salon series, a schedule of presentations, lectures, and discussions by a range of speakers.
Art Basel Conversations and Art Salon: Premier panellists
For over a decade, Art Basel Conversations has offered the public a chance to see dynamic dialogues between prominent figures of the international artworld, debating the key issues facing the artworld today and offering first-hand perspectives on producing, collecting and exhibiting art. Conversations take place daily 10am - 11:30am, in the Hall C auditorium. One-hour panel discussions are followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.
Art Salon complements the Art Basel Conversations program and serves as an open space for shorter presentations, including panel discussion, lectures and performances. Salon takes place daily from Thursday, December 4 to Sunday, December 7, from 1pm to 7pm (Sunday to 4pm) in the Hall C auditorium, access with Art Basel VIP card or ticket.
Art Film
Art Film, organized in association with David Gryn, Director of Londonʼs Artprojx, and long time Art Basel film curator This Brunner, presents films by and about artists at Colony Theatre, SoundScape Park, and within personal viewing pods inside the Miami Beach Convention Center. Art Public
The Public sector offers its visitors a chance to see outdoor sculptures, interventions, and performances, sited within an open and public exhibition format at Collins Park. The sector has been produced in collaboration with the Bass Museum of Art since 2011.
