From December 6 - December 9, 2012, Miami Beach will host the 11th edition of Art Basel, the most prestigious art show in the Americas. More than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa will take part, showcasing works by more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Art Nova: 40 galleries present recent works by 104 artists
The Art Nova sector is a platform where emerging and established galleries present new or recent work by either two or three artists at Art Basel Miami Beach. This year, 40 international galleries have been chosen by the Selection Committee for the sector, and works by 104 artists from around the globe will be on display. Limited to work made in the last three years, Art Nova provides visitors with an opportunity to see many pieces fresh from studios and explore the newest artistic practices.

Art Kabinett
In Art Kabinett, 20 galleries selected for the Art Galleries sector will present curated exhibitions in a separately delineated space within their booth. The curatorial concepts for Art Kabinett are diverse, including thematic group exhibitions, art-historical showcases and solo shows for rising stars.

Art Positions
Art Positions creates a platform for a single major project from one artist, allowing curators, critics and collectors to discover ambitious new talents at Art Basel Miami Beach.

Art Basel Conversations and Art Salon: Premier panellists
For over a decade, Art Basel Conversations has offered the public a chance to see dynamic dialogues between prominent figures of the international artworld, debating the key issues facing the artworld today and offering first-hand perspectives on producing, collecting and exhibiting art. This year's program will include an Artist Talk with Richard Tuttle and panel discussions entitled 'Rethinking the Encyclopedic Museum', 'Why Japanese Post-War Art Matters Now', and 'The Artist as Musician'.

Art Salon complements the Art Basel Conversations program and serves as an open space for shorter presentations, including panel discussion, lectures and performances.

Art Film: Painters Painting
Art Film is devoted to a single film with strong ties to the artworld. Selected by Zurich film connoisseur, This Brunner, 'Painters Painting' is a documentary film by Emile de Antonio from 1972 including artists like Willem de Kooning, Barnett Newman,Frank Stella and Jasper Johns. Our screening will be followed by a panel discussion with key figures from the film's production.

Art Public
Art Public presents outdoor sculptures, interactive performances, site specific installations, and public artworks within an open and public exhibition format, curated by Christine Y. Kim, Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at LACMA (The Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and Co-Founder of LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division).

The site-specific projects and outdoor works in sculpture, installation, video and performance span from the 1938 keystone façade of the Bass Museum in Miami Beach to Collins Avenue.

Art Video: Public Screenings in SoundScape Park on the outdoor projection wall of the New World Center
The Art Video program is presented in SoundScape Park on the 7,000-square-foot outdoor projection wall of the New World Center. Selected by David Gryn, Director of London's Artprojx, Art Video will feature eight programs running over four nights.

Art Video Nights will start at 8pm each day with the second program of the evening commencing at 9pm Wednesday, December 5 - Saturday, December 8. The feature Saturday, December 9 is Bliss, a 12 hour video work by Ragnar Kjartansson, filmed at his performance at Performa 11 in New York in 2011. It features the final aria of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, with full cast in period costumes, scenery and orchestra. This is a special dusk-to-dawn screening(6pm Saturday - 6AM Sunday) in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) North Miami and the New World Center.
