I keep giving it a try, a go, and have been successful twice, enjoying 2 out of 4 events. I am not critizing the food, that was very good, although one event the lamb arrived cold. The problem with the place is the service, and that they cannot cater to a wedding as well as the regular dining. The setting is very romantic; two people dining is a dream, parties of 6 or more doesn't work as well.That is when I saw the problems occuring. Whether for a special personal occasion or to take out of town business visitors - the food is excellent, the service attentive and the decor and location are beautiful and one of a kind. Baleen "Overpriced Mediocrity" Date: April 2, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Miami, FL Typical flashy Miami restaurant that promises big but ends up leaving you with the feeling you've been majorly ripped off. The tasting menu of six dishes (including an ordinary salad and dessert, really only four semi-interesting courses), at $95, is terrible. Tiny dishes that rarely rise above mediocrity, in spite of their pedigreed ingredients. Add in the supposed 'matching' wines at $45/person, and you're at $280 for two. The wines were either poorly described or not at all, and to ny taste buds, I don't think any of them were over $12 retail. Not exactly generous pours, either. The service was atrocious, unless you don't mind the servers arm in your face every time they served a dish. The wine list is THE most over-priced list I have ever seen, even in Miami. Oh, and the one bottle I wanted to order from their thick list? They were out of it. Which leads me to believe that their list is a fantasy. Throw in two cocktails, a tamake tuna app, and the tab was $400 incl tax and tip. The view isn't really that great, either. Horrible! Baleen "We Loved Baleen" Date: September 20, 2004 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Miami, FL This was the most romantic restaurant we have ever been to. My boyfriend took me there for my birthday an it was AMAZING. The food was spectacular and the ambience was unforgettable. I will recommend this restaurant for anyone who is in love.
