Shelley Hotel "What a dive"
Date: September 6, 2005
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Philadelphia, PA
WOW..let me start by saying that after reading the reviews that it was better then I expected. 1st. the good news, Free bar hours were GREAT. got tanked, nice lobby and great outside seating area. Nice staff in general, ..The bad news...TV outlet shorted out one night while we were watching it, they ran an ext. cord across the room to fix it. The room was dirty, carpets were so nasty I wore socks just to walk around, the john was clogged the whole time we were there. They would have to plunge it every day. It looked like a child did the remodel. (carpet, nails sticking out of door frames, doors that dont fit) but it was 1 block from Mango's and the beach. Wont stay at any South Beach Group hotels again but I will return to South Beach at another hotel.

Shelley Hotel "The Smelly Shelly"

Date: May 26, 2005
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Boston, MA
The Hotel Shelly is referred to by the locals and many of our guests as the "Smelly Shelly"

We pride ourselves on living up to this name.

Room amenities include:

A glass shower with no door so you can see your roomate's smelly butt when they are showering.

A toilet that will continuously break on you as to make it impossible to make a doodie when you need to. Also included with this fabulous toilet is a seat that will need shimmying next to the smelly sink in order for it to stay up.

A sink that will break the second you walk into the room.

Your very own puddle of corona beer on the nightstand upon arrival. A straw will be provided for your slurping pleasure for a $5.00 resort fee (on top of the one you are paying already)

Windows that do not open. You may not look at this as a perk but you will thank us when you see the stray cats that climb onto your window sill.

A Staff that does not speak English.

A complimentary ice bucket with hair in it but no ice machine. You will have to walk across the street to the smelly chesterfield (widely know to guests as the “molesterfield”) to obtain ice.

The Hotel Smelly Shelly is looking forward to your arrival. Please note that if you arrive 5 minutes prior to check in time, you will be required to pay a 20 dollar fee. Please also be aware that our airport shuttle runs for approximately 45 minutes daily. If your flight does not arrive or depart within those 45 minutes, you are out of smelly luck and you will be forced to pay for a cab with a Dr.r who’s cell phone goes off every 5 seconds and who will entertain you with his strange, throat heavy language.

Just for reading this message, you now owe hotel shelly another $5.00 resort fee.

Shelley Hotel "Good Location and Good Time"

Ive stayed here twice, and both times were great. I go to miami for the clubs, restaurants and beaches, so the room is a place to shower and get a few hours of rest. No luxury, but the stereo in the room is on while we all get ready to party, and the bar a few steps down the hall is a great place to wait for the shower if you are sharing a room with your friends. You can walk to the beach, Pizza Rustica and get a $5 cab to almost any club or restaurant to save your feet!!! Maybe when I get rich Ill stay at the shore club, but for now the Hotel Shelley is fine for a fun weekend in south beach with the girls!!!!

Shelley Hotel "Worst Hotel in South Beach!"

Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, NJ
The bar area is semi-nice with flat screen tv's. But the hallways look like you're in some kind of crack house. The rooms are tiny and look like cheap motels that are going to fall apart. The tolet overflowed twice and they said it was normal. The free happy hour was a joke the bar tenders were very bitchy and wanted a huge tip or they make fun of you and give you faces. The continental breakfast was even a bigger joke which included a piece of bread, OJ, and and rasin/regular corn flakes. Overall, the money for what I paid for was a big waste. They tried overcharing me for the room when i checked in. Then when i was in the bathroom a tile fell from the wall. Not a small tile but a big granite tile that could kill someone. At that point the manger Chela said that it wasn't her fault and that it never happened before. They didn't really compensate us at all, and spit on our faces. When I got home I got charged $22.89 for the mini-bar for which we didn't even use. They front desk guy said for soda and candy. If you want a horrible hotel with bad service and fraudulent practices stay here otherwise STAY AWAY! I wish i had read the reviews on this website before I booked it. Very dissapointed...this hotel ruined most of my trip.

Shelley Hotel "Hated this Hotel"

Date: March 18, 2005
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Chicago, IL
Absolutely horrendous would be an accurate description of this “hotel.” You would think that making reservations three months in advance would guarantee your request, but without any prior notice the rude and very unprofessional staff put us in a room with one bed for 4 girls. After multiple requests to be moved we were put in a room with double beds. Besides the room having only one mirror, one small lamp in the bedroom, no clock, and a bathroom door that didn’t close, it was do-able at this point. Our second day in this room one of the girls was in the bathroom and the ceiling started leaking (pouring water) from multiple places including the light fixture. The staff decided to move us once again. So yes, more time wasted repacking and waiting for the staff to prepare our third room. This room had a better look to it than the others, besides the television that didn’t work and the missing blow dryer. After resettling for the third time I went in the bathroom and a few inches in front of me the light fixture fell out of the ceiling and landed in the sink. The staff had no idea how to handle the situation only causing us more aggravation. If you still think that this “hotel” is the place for you, I have one more warning: the windows don’t have screens and there are roaches outside the building. So, if you are looking for a vacation were you can possibly get a concussion or electrocuted and want to be aggravated the entire time, than Hotel Helley is the place for you.

Shelley Hotel "Very Poor Rating"

Date: June 15, 2004

My friends and I had bad experiences with Hotel Shelly's receptionists. They are rude and not informative at all about the local attractions. If you like uncleany and cockroach infested rooms, then Hotel Shelley is your place. I would not recommend this hotel at all. The only plus is its close location to the beach.

Shelley Hotel "Not good"
Date: March 26, 2004
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, London, England
Pretty dreadful. Tiny room, people yelling in the corridors in the early hours of the morning EVERY night - I was on the ground floor - and the reaction of the reception staff was "What do you expect me to do about it?". Errr - ask them to shut up, actually. The "breakfast" - across the road in a room open to the street was so poor I couldn't eat it and went out and bought one instead.I was disappointed - this is not a cheap hotel but it felt both cheap and shabby.
