I've travelled all over the world and I have been spoiled with wonderful
hotels, hence I'm super picky and hard to please. BUT the Penguin
was fantastic. I had read reviews condemning the Penguin, but it was
very cheap and I was on an unfortuantely tight budget. When I arrived,
I found the most pleasant surprise. The hotel is FANTASTIC.

Where should I start? They are definitely overpriced. You can find
a cheaper price on a search engine though. Let me start w/the service-Was
the room ever really cleaned out? We had to ask for a garbage can.
The bath water was never warm enough. Looks more like the Bates Hotel.
The only reason they are worthy of two stars is because of the Front
Porch Cafe. They are not the same company, by the way. That food was
great. The other good thing about the hotel is that it is facing the
beach, but don't let the pictures on the web fool you. The oceanfront
view is the highest priced room. Not really worth a second stay. Try
some time share. There is no free parking of course and no pool at
all. No hair dryer, no first aid, no iron. This is a BYOS, Bring Your
Own Stuff hotel.

Someone should take the time and energy to sue this place for false
advertising. They claim in their brochure to have parking and a pool
and they have neither. The older front desk woman was one of the rudest
and most confrontational "service" person I have ever come
across. The rooms are small and tacky and they made us put a deposit
down for the tv remote and there were no towels available!?! The only
bright spot was that the restaurant was good and the waiters were
nice and helpful, but apparently they just rent the space and couldn't
help with any of our room problems.

The staff are unfriendly and make you feel unwelcome. Roaches roam
the halls and the rooms. Not at all luxurious...worse than a motel
6. If you want to relax and not worry about taking roach eggs home....don't
stay at the President or the Penguin on South Beach.
