Colony Hotel "Great
location, Great Hotel" Date: July 11, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Moore, OK
I stayed at the Colony Hotel in a recently renovated room. It was
fantastic, the staff was pleasant and informative. The room had a
wonderful modern look with wood floors, platform beds and a large
LCD television. The hotels location is perfect, it allows one to get
anywhere within a short walk. I will stay there again and would highly
recommend it to others.
Colony Hotel "Thank god for Expedia" Date: June 1, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Manchester-England
We stayed at the Colony in May 2005 for a long weekend after geting
Married in Florida the day before. The Colony was booked through Expedia,
and the Money taken from my account 8 months earlier, which was fine,
although somwhat surprising when we checked in that the staff had
no booking for us and the hotel was full ??? Thank god that we got
expedia on the phone and they sorted it out and made sure that our
stay was pleasent !! The Colony is a must if you are looking for location
without the comfort. Small rooms and even smaller bathrooms !! A bit
noisey, but hey who cares when you are on Honeymoon !! Worth a look!
Colony Hotel "A treat for any european." Date: May 26, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Amsterdam, Holland
Defenitely worthwhile spending a night or 2. I missed my flight to
Madrid at Miami and decided to stay at the all famous Ocean Blvd.
The rooms are not big but I liked the art deco a lot, cool lamps,
clocks, cocktail shaker, plants, ceiling fan, low bed very comfortable,
big plasma on the wall in front of the bed. Check it out.
Colony Hotel "This place sucked!" Date: April 26, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Nashville, TN
We were to stay at this hotel from April 17 - 24 2005, but checked
in for only 2 hours then transferred to another hotel immeadiatly.
First, the hotel rooms were extremely small with the beds practicly
on the floor with no base. Second, the bathroom was disgusting with
the bathtub having rust stains on it and the toilet would not flush
correctly! Third, the guy at the front desk advised me they did not
have extra bath towels that they only had beach towels that were paper
thin. Fourth, the guy at the front desk was not even hospitable acting
as if we were bothering him. WORD TO THE WISE do not stay at this
hotel if you want to enjoy your stay in south beach otherwise you
will regret it!
Colony Hotel "Hell in Miami" Date: March 2, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, CT
This was THE WORST hotel I've ever stayed at!!!! First they gave us
a room that was already occupied. Then the next had dirty towels and
the toilet paper was dripping wet. When I told the front desk they
never came to the room but just handed me a clean towel and paper
at the front desk and they wouldn't give me another room. When going
to bed I found a PUBIC hair under my pillow!!!! I couldn't believe
it!! To top it off they wanted 5$ in checkout for beach towels I didn't
even use and clean up!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was shocked!!
Colony Hotel "Not bad at all" Date: February 1, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Dallas, TX
We stayed there in January 2005 during the Orange Bowl. They are renovating
the rooms, but ours hadn't been renovated yet. Our room was nothing
fancy (although it had a DVD player), and a little noisy, but you
can't beat the location. If you're getting a renovated room, I'd recommend
the hotel.
Colony Hotel "An enjoyable experience at the Colony Hotel" Date: January 27, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Atlanta, GA
Last year, I stayed at the Colony Hotel and it was a good experience
but nothing extraordinary, This year I returned to the hotel and I
was impressed by the improvements. The new decor on the rooms are
fabulous, the plasmas TV make the rooms so sofisticate without loosing
the art deco style.
The service meet my expectations and made me feel like I was in my
own house. My stayed at the Hotel was so fun and enjoyable that I
will returned by the end of the year and I will spread the word about
the COLONY HOTEL AND THEIR STAFF.
Colony Hotel "C-mon--it's a classic" Date: August 8, 2004 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, San Diego, CA
First, let's not forget where we are--the epicenter of South Beach,
and the Colony is just about the most identifiable spot on Collins.
Rooms are small and not particularly somewhere you would want to spend
a lot of time. And DON'T FORGET THE EARPLUGS; there really is some
action on the street. Great for a night or two, but you wouldn't really
want to take up residence.
Colony Hotel "OK for the price and
location" Date: June 16, 2004 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Tierra Verde, FL
The rooms are old and very small. The drinks in the bar are overpriced.
Given the fact that it is in the heart of South Beach, if you are
only going to sleep there and don't care to spend big money, it is
suitable. Otherwise, consider a more comfortable hotel for a little
bit more money.
